SP 960  single wheel buffing machine.

The SP 960 is a single wheeled manual buffing machine.  This manual buffer is fitted with a 1 meter diameter buffing wheel, which allows the buffing wheel to turn slower and alleviate the requirement for hard pressure from the operator that exists with smaller buffing wheels at faster RPM's.

The large wheeled buffing machine allows the wheel to conform to the part being polished, and reduces the risk of the buffing wheel leaving an edge mark.  Two different buffing wheels can be spaced apart on the same shaft for both cut and colour buffing operations. Slower speeds of the buffing wheel use less buffing compound because the low centrifugal force of the buffing wheel does not throw the buffing compound off so readily.

This manual buffing machine is made in the USA with a two year warrantee of the drive and motor.  The motor is 7.5 horsepower.  The buffing wheel drive is with an intermediate shaft (indirect drive) so that the motor is always rotating faster than the buffing wheel rpm so the buffer motor can operate cooler and efficiently. 

An indirect drive means that the buffing wheel is not supported on the shaft and bearings of the motor, but on a rotating shaft large enough to withstand the rotational and side -loading forces developed during the buffing process, never transmitting the excessive force to the drive of the buffing machine.  The top of the buffing machine contains a tool tray for stick compound and tools, and also has a hinged cover.

Also available as an SP 960 BM, with a self braking motor.
